A quick stop at Alpine Beer Company

New After my appointment in El Cajon I ventured just a few more minutes east.

I was hoping they still had some Nelson IPA, but no…this batch only lasted a week.  I feel fortunate to have had a few pints of Nelson at Churchill’s 2009 Hopocolyps a week and a half ago.

Alpine posted new rules; the maximum number of samples you can purchase is 4.  As it was explained to me, when they are busy and there is a line out the door, they don’t want people camping at the taster / growler fill bar.

I ended up sampling Mandarin Nectar, Apricot Nectar, Alpine Ale and ended with Pure Hoppiness.

Between my own growlers and friends orders, I ended up with five (5) growlers and five (5) bottles.  My own being Captain Stout and Pure Hoppiness.  Yumm

Alpine expects to have Exponential Hoppiness on tap in about 3-weeks, followed shortly by Duet.  Duet is sleighted to be the first batch of beer in their new tanks.

  1. Growler prices are unusual = $8.82. Is tax $1.18 = 13%? If so, is CA sales tax that high?

Alpine is high on my list of must stops! Keep us posted on what they are up to.
