Here it is Friday, and I haven’t even posted pix from last weekend. It was one hell of a work week and I am looking forward to a great beer weekend. I have emptied my camera so I am ready…for whatever. Last Saturday I had two small beer gatherings.
The first one was a friends belated St. Patrick’s party. We all indulged in some great beer and food. The host is a home brewer and let us sample his latest, a wonderful Double Red. The next pint was a growler I brought to share, Pure Hoppiness from Alpine Beer Company.
The hosts are fans of Irish Whiskey and brought out something special to share while we were sipping on our pints. The smell reminded me of the disinfectant / cleaning solution used on my daughters new ear piercings when she very young. Based on the odor it was not something I would think to drink; maybe clean a wound. The hosts called it Irish moonshine. The label proudly states that it is “banned in Ireland”. I suspect it was banned due to its use as molotov cocktails. I had a long day ahead and tried one chilled shot and was not impressed. But I will need to try again before I dismiss it all together.
A few other beers we enjoyed were Stone IPA and Pale Ale, Port Brewing Hot Rocks Lager, Lost Abbey Carnevale Ale…then it was time to head to beer gathering #2.
