Mint in my beer? Still undecided if it is for me… Interesting and well balanced, but odd at the same time. Feel like I should be sipping it at a bonfire instead of hiding out on the hotel patio watching the sunset over Newport Beach! (Kids wore me out today…)
Out of the pouring rain for a couple of pours of beer. Pizza Port never disappoints! Tubby’s Porter and Just One More Scotch – ’cause our Champagne brunch did not include beer.
Finally had the 2011 TREAT by Midnight Sun Brewing Company out of Anchorage, Alaska (glasses safe for jacuzzi). Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter…. Mmmmmmm… Nuff said!!
Even though we were a tad “beered out” from beer week, we visited Rock Bottom to celebrate the day we first met there (Tues after SDBW two years ago) – kinda like a two year anniversary! Stumbled upon the drink-up group and enjoyed visiting with them. Selected the new “Winter Wheat” and recent GABF gold […]
Flight of great tasters from Alpine Beer Company with fancy pizza and salad at Blind Lady Ale House after the Alpine Downhill Challenge. A great day of beer and biking!!
A few Alpine tasters before biking downhill to Blind Lady Ale House… Lots of good stuff: barrel aged oden’s raven, briscoe, chez monmee, duet, nelson… Wish us luck!
Loads of barrel-aged beers… Too late for Abyss, and instead chose Flying Dog Barrel-aged Gonzo and Great Divide Rumble. Both boozy and enjoyable. Adam insisted on adding a San Diego Beer Company “Happy Ending”… I have to say it was very tasty!
After the delightful Allagash Confluence, Interlude, and Victoria, Jen and Lee had us talked into the BLAH/Alpine Downhill Biking event on Sunday…. Will it rain??? Thx Mr Sushi for the “flashlighting” effects.
Burly Gourd, Oude Tart, Loakal Red, Birra Blasta, Snicklefritz, and 4 Calling Birds at Blind Lady Ale House. All great! Wished we had gone for the Rue lunch tasting where patrons were surprised with bonus Black Tuesday and Wanderer! Next year!
Glad I was able to stop by La Jolla Brew House for Avery Brewing night and taste a small glass of a very big beer, Rumpkin! It is a delicious 16% Imperial Pumpkin Ale aged in rum barrels, and a rare find! (I think everyone else was there to watch the Chargers…….)
