Is been a while since our last visit to Alesmith. The cask of the Mosaic wet hopped IPA is quite nice.
Very happy with this 8.4%ABV collaboration beer from Stone, Odell and Marble.
Our last time enjoying this beer it was on draft Brabant. Miss Brabant.
I don’t recall enjoying Karl Strauss 11.1% ABV Belgian-style Quad quite as much when I tried when originally released in 2011…but I’m enjoying now. Deceptively smooth with slightly sweet malt flavors with notes of dark fruit and caramel.

The snifter of 10.5% triple IPA for me, and the big-boy glass of G.F.B. blonde ale for the lady.
The 10.5% ABV IPA for me and the Debutante, 6.8% Belgian-style amber, for the lady.
Really quite good.
Funky Buddha’s 9% ABV wheat wine is better than I imagined. I expected something overly sweet and it’s not. Not bitter or too dry, it has pleasant malt flavors with vanilla notes, giving it a hint of dessert sweetness, over the fruit.
A 6.2% ABV New Zealand hopped session IPA from Modern Times Beer. Yummy
The name loosely translated is Three (in french) Bastards (in spanish). An homage to the band The Melvins by the three friends that made it, this 8.5% hazy double IPA is as good as the draft versions enjoyed multiple times before…juicy and delicious.

While in KCMO I stopped into Boulevard Brewing’s HQ for a few tasters with and old friend. Heavy Lifting is an IPA, which at 6.2% isn’t heavy at all. And Rye on Rye on Rye a stout aged in rye barrels. It’s got a boozy kick but a nice, clean finish.
Located at Harrahs Rincon in Valley Center. 6 drafts today. L to R are per the board (L to R, top to bottom). Last two (L to R) are a red IPA and a blueberry saison. Our fav was the Paradise Creek.

A nice 4.3% ABV gose brewed and bottled for Stillwater Artisanal by Crazy Mountain Brewing Company, in Denver, Colorado. A lot of grapefruit flavor/notes. Some coming from the tartness of the style, but likely more intense from the Citra and Amarillo dry hopping.
The light one is the wit and the dark ones are stouts. The others are beer too. IMO..Dank Drank over the Drupe Fruit, and Uni over the Dorcha. Happy with both Exotic and Wit.
A delish IPA from the fine folks at Alpine Beer Company.
Piney n resinous, and a bit more sessionable at 8.5% ABV, compared to the first batch at 13+%ABV.

Very happy, and a bit surprised, to find this 8% ABV double IPA, collaboration beer from Amplified Ale Works and Alvarado Street Brewery, still on draft in Amplified PB. Really quite good.
Idaho 7 wet hop IPA at Mother Earth Brew on Main Street. 6.7% ABV.
Enjoying a coconut porter by our friend Kevin Buckley @barleyforge. Seem to remember this one in an ealier iteration when it was PB Tap house Toasted Coconuts on Rye. Nice and balanced without too much on the coconut end.
Very happy with this 7.5% ABV IPA brewed with Mosaic, Meridian and Denali hops. Fruit, melon and pine hop flavors with clean dry finish, and not malty sweetness.
I interpreted “enjoy as fresh as possible”, as in best before noon. Greatly enjoying this classic 10% ABV double IPA after breakfast.
I chose to pour into the glass from the previous beverage, and not drink directly from the decanter. Now I fear the glassware/beverage police will be handing our citations.
Bootlegger’s Brewing makes some great beer. Surprised, but glad, to find it at Bubba Gump, as Bubba Gump was not even on my list of places to eat. “I’m Forrest Gump. People call me Forrest Gump.”

The 8.0% ABV double IPA is an Amplified Ale Works collaboration with Alvarado Street Brewery. Made with Nelson and Mosaic hops and fermented with brett trois yeast, the beer has the appearance of freshly squeezed orange juice, but with juicy citrus hop flavors. Thank you sir, may I have another?
A collaboration IPA between San Diego’s Council Brewing and Monterey’s Alvarado Street Brewery. Like a tart white IPA. The citrus notes of the hops may over-exaggerate the tartness. Interesting…but in a good way. Also grabbed a 100% Maybe IPA, made with Mosaic and Ekuanot hops, sidecar.

Though the Accumulated Knowledge was aquired some days ago, I didn’t really have time to absorb it until now. Feeling smarter with each sip. Hmm..I’m guessing the accumulated knowledge I retain is whatever I don’t pee out. Not quite sure how to measure that.
Though not a fan of coffee, the Extra Añejo Xocoveza (wine and tequila barrel aged) the 2013 Coffee Bourbon County Stout, were pretty damn good.
Very happy with Setting Sun Sake’s first bottle release. A 15% ABV sake dry-hopped with Motueka. Sweet with clean finish and pronounced alcohol flavors. I’m assuming the hops add fruit-citrus flavors and nose.
Delicious. Mildly tart oak aged saison with a bit of funk, and clean finish. Very nice. 2017 is only hours away.

After leaving to open Artifex Brewing up in Orange County, Chris has returned as head brewer of Backstreet, Vista. Celebrating his return, he brewed up a delicious IPA he calls (fittingly) “Round 2.” At 7.6% abv, two rounds is probably all I will be able to handle.
Preferred the draft version to the bottle. Preferred the dry hopped version to the regular version…or what I recall out being like…as it’s been a while.
Nothing outstanding, but not bad either. Pale ale-ish wheat beer.
Uh Oh Ho Ho…a tad late on this one. Lucky the Stone Police didn’t come take it from the fridge drawer.

Enjoying a 10-year old bottle of DeuS for our 7th anniversary. Seems more boozy than the 11.5% ABV that the label indicates, with pleasant flavors of dried dark fruit, mild sweetness up front with dryer Belgian yeast finish. Very good, but different from what I recall from later/ younger versions we enjoyed.
…was one of the few beers I tried, but ended up with the Just Outstanding, from Kern River Brewing. Many great beers on draft around town post SD Beer Week.
The date stamp was not clear, but guessing 2010 vintage. It’s held up nicely. Some fruity notes that weren’t there before.

A nice czech pilsner from Fall Brewing Company, which I have yet to visit. Perfect beer for a 90 degree October day. Yeah, I know, it’s in a Belching Beaver glass.

Delicious DIPA from Back Street Vista. Simcoe, Columbus and Centennial hops with a surprisingly well-balanced malt profile. 8% ABV but you’d swear it was no more than 5%. Deceitful indeed.
An enjoyable 11% ABV bourbon barrel-aged stout from New Holland Brewing. I thought the beer was a good balance of all the flavors…though I would have preferred flavors to linger a bit longer after swallowing.
Was sitting on the patio and enjoying this @dogfishhead seasonal so much that I almost forgot to get a photo. Every year is just a little bit different and yet always delicious.
Elysian is my new favorite brewer. Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA is not. It’s more saccharin than a vanilla at sea on nitrogen. It’s drinkable, but so is Stella when you need to.
Lots of good, and very little bad, packed into this tiny bottle of bitter beer. I feel that with every sip I’m reducing my chances of getting scurvy.
Continuing my fresh hop IPA journey in Bend, I am currently enjoying an Idahop. 6.8% ABV and 75 IBUs.

A hoppy brown ale, with a hop bitterness on top of the roasted malt bitterness, all the way from Austin, Texas. Not really my style, but that didn’t stop me from finishing it.
