My Friday included visits to four brewery/ brewpubs (Bend Brewing, Deschutes Brewery & Public House, Silver Moon Brewing, McMenamins Pub & Brewery) and two watering holes (Summit and Blacksmith).
My first stop of the evening was Bend Brewing Company. I had them pour samples of Elk Lake IPA, Outback Old Ale, Axe Head Red, Pinnacle Porter, Black Diamond Lager and lastly the Barrel Aged Black Jack Porter on nitro. Brewmaster Tonya Cornett took time out of her busy day to say hi and give me a tour of her facility (damn I wish I took pics of the brewery), so I grabbed the Elk Lake IPA and walked around. Tonya let me sample her stein lager, a very tasty, but much lighter colored beer than the Hot Rocks version at Port.
I sat back down at the bar and enjoyed my samples. Not a bad beer in the bunch. Had another sample of each of the darker beers; Black Jack Porter, Black Diamond Lager and Pinnacle Porter so I could decide on what my pint would be. I chose the Black Jack Porter on Nitro. Yumm.
