Nice when you try something you haven’t heard of, and it is actually good! PEAK XV by Black Diamond Brewing out of Concord, CA is named after Mt Everest, brewed with vanilla beans and cacao nibs, and labeled as 8.5% ABV. It was very light bodied, flavorful, and easy to drink. I would have enjoyed a higher alcohol flavor, and find the 8% hard to believe. Interestingly, the beer has poor ratings on Beeradvocate, yet good ratings on Ratebeer and Untappd. Looks like they must’ve had a problem with last year’s batch, yet our bottle was tasty! Lucky us!
