Yeah, it was yesterday…but I was kinda busy doing my part to celebrate the day. I would hope anyone reading this did the same.
I enjoyed the the MadeWest 7% ABV brut IPA, Effervescent, with our 1.5 dozen oysters on the half-shell, octopus a la plancha and chowder fries at Ironside Fish & Oyster Bar. Mmm…chowder fries.

Next we headed south a couple miles to a new brewery in Barrio Logan. Overall pretty happy with the Attitude beers. I chose a session IPA and a hazy IPA (go figure), she went with a blonde and a hefeweizen.
The restaurant on site is not open yet, but that is also coming soon. With over a dozen offerings on draft, we will likely be back on bicycles in the near future.

Headed further south to another new brewery, this one in National City. Embarcadero is brewery supplies and brewery, and had 5 beers on draft. The tender offered a flight of 4, and said he really wouldn’t recommend the English pale ale. We took his recommendation and left that one off the flight.
We tried L to R an amber, West Coast IPA, session IPA, and a blonde. All tasted contiminated and were undrinkable. We left without finishing. I wouldn’t be surprised if one or more of the patrons we witnessed drinking pints there last night wake up blind. They should stick to selling supplies.

In need of something to get the bad taste out of our mouths, we were fortunate to find ourselves only blocks from Machete Beer House.
She chose a Belgian Strong Blonde from Oregon’s pFriem Family Brewers and I opted for a hazy IPA from ElCajon’s Burning Beard. Good choices all ’round.
Cheers.
