Having had Bend Brewing and Deschutes beers before, I pretty much knew what to expect. Silver Moon Brewing, on the other hand, was someone I had not heard of. It was also just a couple of blocks east of Bond and within walking distance.
The first thing I noticed was the tight range of alcohol percentages within all the beers, with the exception of the Hoptygon. Six beers all between 4.4% and 5.3%? Maybe that is normal and I just have not noticed it, but I guess due to my heightened senses I noticed it here. Now if only my memory was heightened. I had a taste of each and but did not find any of them outstanding. I recall the porter being a bit too sweet for my taste and ordering the tiny pint of the seasonal Hoptygon Imperial IPA.
Silver Moon does bottle their beer and I wanted to buy some to take home. My server informed my that they can not sell less than 5-gallons of beer to go. So unless I wanted 3 cases, or more, she could not sell them to me. I don’t know if that was a rule based on their alcolhol permit, or an Oregon thing, or what.
