There have been a handful of milkshake IPAs that Michele has really like. All the standout ones have been double or triple IPAs (8% to 13% ABV), mostly with fruit, all somewhat sweet and super dry-hopped with very little bitterness on the tongue (less than 20 IBU).
I grabbed this can of 8% ABV nitro double IPA made with mango, vanilla and lactose thinking out might just fit the bill.
Though quite juicy and fruity up front, the bitter finish was quite pronounced and more than she preferred. Oh well… me taking one for the team again. As the beer warmed, its wasn’t as juicy and even more bitterness on the finish, but I liked it.
